In the Darsena of Ravenna, A.S.P.RA rises like a lighthouse gazing toward the horizon. Standing close to the quay, its tapered form recalls the shape of the old bastions, while at the top, the traditional lantern of the lighthouse gives way to the conference hall: the main function. A monolith in dialogue with the maritime atmosphere made of wind, sun, and salt air. Its ceramic cladding is a mosaic of convex circular tiles that capture sunlight and shimmer with the movement of the water. At ground level, a loggia welcomes visitors, sheltering the entrance and framing the view of the dock. In this open “square,” the boundary between inside and outside dissolves: light and water reflections filter in, while the interior spaces extend outward.
