The Peak
-
A rock emerging from the alpine pastures, the new G. Tonini Mountain Refuge stands as a compact and sculptural volume, firmly anchored to the ground and opening itself to the vastness of the mountain landscape.
The Peak is conceived as a refuge that reinterprets the archetype of the alpine cabin: while preserving its traditional elements, it renews their language, rebuilding on the footprint of the old structure destroyed by fire and restoring its memory and orientation.A double-pitched roof that recalls traditional stone architecture, adapts to the terrain’s inclination, transforming the roof into a walkable surface and creating a new vantage point overlooking the panorama.
Stones recovered from the original masonry are reused in the construction of the new load-bearing walls, a way to transform loss into the foundation for the future. -
